mimosa pudica 2
malu-malu si pemalu
dengan bunga merah jambu kecil
dijaga duri-duri tajam
tertunduk malu dan menguncup
bila disentuh mesra

si comel ini sedang menari-nari
diusik oleh angin nakal
jemarinya pantas tertutup malu
menyembunyikan tubuhnya yang kurus
bila disentuh oleh
halus kaki belalang kecil
senyumlah, si comel
belalang itu hanya datang
bergurau dan mengusik

My August : Lilin Putih (poetry)
lilin putih
bernyalaan sendiri-sendirian
menemani
hangat petang ramadhan
yang cukup menduga
syukur
kasihNya ada menemani
suasana yang begitu
sederhana ini
lilin putih
bernyalaan sendiri-sendirian
menemani
kesunyian petang ramadhan
yang cukup menduga

poetry : Lunar Crescendo
dia tersenyum dari balik tabir biru muda
dengan senyuman yang keli'atan cukup ikhlas
putih seakan runcing di tepi bibirnya
kiri kanan
lama-kelamaan dia selimutkan wajahnya
dengan selimut kapas yang belum bertenun
perlahan-lahan tidur
namun kutahu dia masih lagi
tersenyum

dia yang tersenyum melihatku
dia yang tersenyum melihatku
ketawa riang menyambutku
sambil menunjukkan dua gigi
bawah; yang tumbuh sebulan lepas
dan ada kelihatan dua lagi
gigi atas yang mula menghias
senyuman riang itu
tertawan sungguh hati ini seakan
tidak mahu meninggalkannya
namun, ku tahu, dan yakin benar
rindu ini akan menebal
dan menjadi semakin indah
bila berjauhan seketika

Bisikan Rindu & Berita Gembira - Tersenyumlah
si kecil
tersenyum manja
dan seakan tersenyum mengenyitkan mata
(atau
adakah dia ketawa sebenarnya?)
aduh,
belum dapat ketawa ria rupanya
namun,
dari anak mata yang bersinar itu
terbayang
girangnya
senyumlah
dan sentuhlah hidungku dengan jari kecilmu
gapailah pipi atau kelopak mataku
dan ketawalah, bila ku usik
(atau
ketika kujulingkan mataku…)
senyumlah
walau tiada kau sedari
seluruh hati ini menyayangi

Bisikan Rindu & Berita Gembira - Malam Esok Jalan-Jalan Lagi
berlari-larianlah
sambil menyentuh bintang-bintang pegun
atau susun satu-satu
bintang-bintang itu, seikut hatimu
bermain-mainlah
sambil mengipas awan-awan malas
atau gubah satu-satu
awan-awan itu, seikut hatimu
berjalan-jalanlah
sambil mengumpul udara segar malam
atau biar saja begitu
malam
esok jalan-jalan lagi

Bisikan Rindu & Berita Gembira : Sebentar - di ruangan kosong
sebentar
di ruangan kosong
dan putih;
kosong tanpa ilham
sebentar
di ruangan kosong
dan senyap
kosong tanpa lukisan
senyap dalam bosan
sebentar
di ruangan kosong
tapi luas
kosong tanpa suara
luas tiada nyawa

Bisikan Rindu & Berita Gembira : Tidurlah
tidurlah
tidurlah
dalam rasa tenang
dan terlindung
kerna malam sudi menemani
dan mengalunkan irama
tidurlah
dalam rasa tenang
dan terlindung
kerna malam sudi menyelimuti
dan menghangatkan rasa
tidurlah
bintang-bintang di kelambu malam
kini berkelipan
dan bergurau manja

Bisikan Rindu & Berita Gembira : Si Jingga
si jingga datang
menggantikan latar biru
yang tadi megah warnanya
aneh,
si jingga ini lembut lagi sapaannya
pulanglah
dan usah bermain lagi
esok akan datang lagi
cuma….malam hampir datang
dan bakal menunjukkan
bintang-bintang
di dadanya

poetry with picture 2
awan jingga
awan jingga
beralun perlahan
-terlalu perlahan seakan pegun terus
ia sudah puas bermain dan belayar
sejak pagi
adakah ia enggan pulang tidur;
di balik tirai biru tua?
the orange cloud
the orange cloud
drifting slow
-too slow as if frozen still
been playing and sailing
since morning
was it reluctant to sleep
behind the dark blue veil?

poetry with picture
the smiling moon
he smiled
right there
calm
soon comes
the night
quiet
he smiled
right there
sincere
late still
the night
comes
he smiles
‘tis night
now
bulan yang tersenyum
dia tersenyum
di situ
tenang
akan tiba
si malam
senyap
dia tersenyum
di situ
ikhlas
lambat lagi
si malam
tiba
dia tersenyum
t’lah malam
kini

POEM : Pantun
The pantun is a Malay poetic form. The pantun originated as a traditional oral form of expression. The first examples to be recorded appear in the 15th century in the Malay Annals and the Hikayat Hang Tuah. The most common theme is love. In its most basic form the pantun consists of a quatrain which employs an abab rhyme scheme. A pantun is traditionally recited according to a fixed rhythm and as a rule of thumb, in order not to deviate from the rhythm, every line should contain between eight and 12 syllables.
"The pantun is a four-lined verse consisting of alternating, roughly rhyming lines. The first and second lines sometimes appear completely disconnected in meaning from the third and fourth, but there is almost invariably a link of some sort. Whether it be a mere association of ideas, or of feeling, expressed through assonance or through the faintest nuance of a thought, it is nearly always traceable".
The pantun is highly allusive and in order to understand it readers generally need to know the traditional meaning of the symbols the poem employs.
A FAMOUS PANTUN
from
MARSDEN’S MALAYAN GRAMMAR
The Malay Text in the Original Jawi Script:
This text was published in A Grammar of the Malayan Language with an Introduction and
Praxis by William Marsden, London 1812, pp. 208-209. In 1984 Oxford University Press published
a photographic reprint of that work with the title A Dictionary and Grammar of the Malayan
Language by William Marsden with an Introduction by Russell Jones. The original manuscript of
the pantun is probably preserved in the library of the School of Oriental and African Studies of
the University of London. See M.C. Ricklefs and P. Voorhoeve, Indonesian Manuscripts in Great
Britain: a Catalogue of Manuscripts in Indonesian Languages in British Public Collections, Oxford:
Oxford University Press, London, 1977, p. 157, MS12158(4).

Poem : Suria Bukan Untukku Sahaja
kelambu malam yang dilabuhkan
dibuka; dan kini menampakkan
suria mesra yang mengusapi pipi
dan mencium dahi
hangat pagi mendakap seakan
enggan melepaskan
selesa membiarkan diri dipeluk lama
ah, suria bukan untukku sahaja!

the night's curtain
rolled, and now unveils
the friendly sun touching my cheek
and kissing my forehead
the sun's warmth embraces as if
holding and never letting me go
such blissful feeling to be hugged
ah, the sun is not mine alone!

POEM : 7 832 104 LIGHT YEARS
little blue star up in the sky
how i wish i could possibly fly
to hold you close in my hands my dear
to feel your shine ever so warm and near
but this shall remain as a dream, you see
for you are 7 832 104 light years away from me
little blue star up in the stiff cold night
how i wish with all i might
to touch your beautiful shiny face
adore your eyes as i embrace
but this shall remain as a dream, you know
for i am 7 832 104 light years down below
little blue star amidst the clouds rolling by
how i wish as i wonder why
to feel your shiny skin of gold
your beauty in my memory i would fold
but this shall remain as a dream, it'll always be
for you are 7 832 104 light years away from me

POEM: THE NIGHT WILL NEVER STAY
| painting by Phoebe Moore |
THE NIGHT WILL NEVER STAY
by Eleanor Farjeon
The night will never stay,
the night will still go by,
though with a million stars
you pin it to the sky;
though you bind it with the
blowing wind
and buckle it with the moon,
the night will slip away
like a sorrow or a tune.

Prelude to the series of poems about night.....
Excuse me for quoting: The authors of "Language And How To Use It".
'Nights can be mysterious and beautiful. Have you ever thought about the sound of the night wind, the colors of the night sky, or the beauty of stars and moonlight?'
coming up, i'll be featuring some poems about night, plus, i'll be featuring some of my own poems (and maybe paintings...if there are any..). my poems would mostly be in Bahasa Malaysia. i might took some effort to translate them, but i'm sure the poems then wouldn't be that poetic. but, then again, i will try my best to please.
so, let me start. here's a poem about night's enchantment, titled...well, NIGHT'S ENCHANTMENT.
NIGHT'S ENCHANTMENT
by Edith H. Brown
Something in the night
enthralls me.
I shall never, never tire
of winds and stars and
cottonwoods
and cool moonfire.

POEM : DISCOVERY
DISCOVERY
In a puddle left from last week’s rain,
a friend of mine whose name is Joe
caught a tadpole, and showed me where
its froggy legs were beginning to grow.
Then we turned over a musty log,
with lichens on it in a row,
and found some fiddleheads of ferns
uncoiling out of the moss below.
We hunted around and saw the first
Jack-in-the-pulpits beginning to show,
and even spotted under a rock
where spotted salamanders go.
I learned all this one morning from Joe,
but how much more there is to know!
