exam week....

It was the examination week
for the students
of SK Nanga Kain.

It was somewhat
unnerving to think
“Will my students
do well in the exam?”

Whatever it is,
I just hoped
that my students
will do well in the exam….
and future exams as well.

Allah says.
(Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?
and at the Sky, how it is raised high?
and at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?
and at the Earth, how it is spread out?
Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish)
(QURAN/88/Al-Ghasyha verse 17-21)

great news.....

well, great news for me, actually.

i would love to announce that now i am able to create videos in HD...(hello, people have been making HD videos since years ago!)  i got this cute Full HD video camera, and i am excited with the simplest features that came with the video camera.

plus, i also have this free software for creating reverse video....and i have tonnes of ideas for creating a few reverse videos of my own, of course; featuring my students and maybe, some of my colleagues...oops, i said maybe...maybe!

hmm, thinking of buying another camera. but, i'm still thinking about it. hehehehe....

A FRIEND, A SECRET LOVER or A MANIPULATOR?

a friend is.....
somebody close enough to you that
* you feel comfortable sharing your secrets with
* doesn't care how you look
* you talk with until the wee hours of the night
* smiles whenever you meet

a secret lover is....
somebody
* that go bonkers whenever you're not around
* who talks and talks and talks about you...even to a wall
* who remembers your face, and not what you're wearing
* smiles...and stutters, at the mention of your name

a manipulator is...
somebody who
* tells you what to say
* doesn't let you talk
* celebrates your failures, and loathes your accomplishments
* frowns at the sight of you, or maybe went into a coma altogether

so, which one are you..
A FRIEND, A SECRET LOVER......or A MANIPULATOR?

lumpur di kakiku...(mud on my feet)

Hahaha…I took this picture last week.
What happened was;
I lost the pair of sandals I was wearing
when I was trying to get into a boat.
My left foot got stuck in the mud
and I couldn’t pull it out
without causing the other foot
to stick in the mud as well.

Well, to me; the incident was funny,
for it happened to me many times.
I just couldn’t stop laughing
until I got myself out of the mud
and finally into the boat.

There were other people
who were watching and laughing at me,
but none of them were laughing as hard as I was.
Mine was spontaneous, unpretentious and genuine.
hehehe…and I think it was better for me
to laugh at myself
before others do.

As you can see,
I was not wearing my sandals
because they got stuck in the mud;
and I could just simply say…
in ten billion years from now, someone (or something)
might discover that pair of fossilized sandals
and label them as
“Mysterious Ancient Artifact”.

Hahaha…I just couldn’t stop smiling
thinking about the incident.

MY PERSONAL PICK...back to back!

here's a version of BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY as sung by the Muppets...
i love this version as well.....

MY PERSONAL PICK....BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY

check out this video below....

Bohemian Rhapsody" is a song by the British rock band Queen. It was written by Freddie Mercury for the band's 1975 album A Night at the Opera. The song has no chorus, instead consisting of three main parts: a ballad segment ending with a guitar solo, an operatic passage, and a heavy rock section.

The song consists of six sections: introduction, ballad, guitar solo, opera, hard rock, and outro. This format, with abrupt changes in style, tone, and tempo, was unusual to rock music.

The New York Times commented that "the song's most distinct feature is the fatalistic lyrics". Mercury refused to explain his composition other than saying it was about relationships; the band is still protective of the song's secret. Brian May supports suggestions that the song contained veiled references to Mercury's personal traumas. He recalls "Freddie was a very complex person: flippant and funny on the surface, but he concealed insecurities and problems in squaring up his life with his childhood. He never explained the lyrics, but I think he put a lot of himself into that song."May, though, says the band had agreed that the core of a lyric was a private issue for the composer. In a BBC Three documentary about the making of "Bohemian Rhapsody", Roger Taylor maintains that the true meaning of the song is "fairly self-explanatory with just a bit of nonsense in the middle."
It's one of those songs which has such a fantasy feel about it. I think people should just listen to it, think about it, and then make up their own minds as to what it says to them... "Bohemian Rhapsody" didn't just come out of thin air. I did a bit of research although it was tongue-in-cheek and mock opera. Why not?
—Freddie Mercury

However, when the band released a Greatest Hits cassette in Iran, a leaflet in Persian was included with translation and explanations (refers to a book published in Iran called "The March of the Black Queen" by Sarah Sefati & Farhad Arkani, which included the whole biography of the band & complete lyrics with Persian translation [2000]). In the explanation, Queen states that "Bohemian Rhapsody" is about a young man who has accidentally killed someone and, like Faust, sold his soul to the devil. On the night before his execution, he calls for God in Arabic, "Bismillah", and with the help of angels, regains his soul from Shaitan.
Despite this, critics, both journalistic and academic, have speculated over the meaning behind the song's lyrics. Some believe the lyrics describe a suicidal murderer hunted by demons or depict events just preceding an execution. The latter explanation points to Albert Camus's novel The Stranger, in which a young man confesses to an impulsive murder and has an epiphany before he is executed, as probable inspiration. Others believe the lyrics were only written to fit with the music, and have no meaning; Kenny Everett quoted Mercury as claiming the lyrics were simply "random rhyming nonsense".
Still others interpreted them as Mercury's way of dealing with personal issues. Music scholar Sheila Whiteley observes that Mercury reached a turning point in his personal life in the year he wrote "Bohemian Rhapsody." He had been living with Mary Austin for seven years but had just embarked on his first gay love affair. She suggests that the song provides an insight into Mercury's emotional state at the time, "living with Mary ('Mama', as in Mother Mary) and wanting to break away ('Mama Mia let me go')."

Is this the real life?

Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy (Poor boy)
I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Any way the wind blows
Doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mamaaa just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mamaaa, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mamaaaaaa, ooooooooh
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters

Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye, everybody
I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mamaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, oooooooh (Anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
Sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

[Guitar Solo]

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, Scaramouch, will you do the Fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me
(Galileo) Galileo (Galileo) Galileo, Galileo Figaro
Magnifico-o-o-o-o
I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go
Let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go
Let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go
Let me go (Will not let you go)
Let me go (Will not let you go) (Never, never, never, never)
Let me go, o, o, o, o
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
(Oh mama mia, mama mia) Mama Mia, let me go
Beelzebub has the devil put aside for me, for me, for me!

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here

[Guitar Solo]
(Oooh yeah, Oooh yeah)

Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me

Any way the wind blows

A FOODIE'S TAKE ON...sugar in my drinks!

seriously, one of these days, i should get my blood-glucose checked. i'm kinda worried too you know, since i have a family history of diabetes.

i just hope i'm not getting it....you know, the big "D" word, i mean diabetes. right now, i'm free of any symptoms. touch wood!

well, for now, i could still enjoy my yummy foods and drinks. but on one note, drink lots of plain water, and avoid carbonated drinks. hmm, come to think of it, i once stopped taking carbonated drinks before, and i felt great at that time. so, i guess it's high time again that i lay off of those types of drinks.

but what about simple juices and cordials? i think i might just have a glass of those once a day, you know... just to keep the brain running. a friend of mine told me...the brain's main fuel is sugar. too little, and it won't work as well as it should. but, too much of it, is also very bad!

he told me, it's okay to enjoy sweet foods. the key point here was moderation. just go easy on the chocolate and sweets, and don't go wayyyyyyyyyyyy overboard.

okay doc, point taken!

MY PERSONAL PICK....Nina and Noh

here's my latest pick, it's a beautiful song sung by Mizz Nina; featuring Noh (of HUJAN band). i like the style of the video, relaxed and almost retro-like. and the fact that the video for the song was made using split-screen technique.

i like......

Dengarkan kata ku dulu
Tindakanmu itu melulu
Jangan biarkan hati
Dikunci oleh rasa benci

Resah yang tiada henti
Bila kau melangkah pergi
Apakah yang harus ku lakukan
‘Tuk merubah hatimu

* Kurnia bagaikan khayalan
Takkan ku lepas walaupun apa yang mendatang
Kurnia bagaikan khayalan
Ku takkan lepas walau hanya khayalan

Senyumanmu igauanku
Tiada yang setandingmu
Suara yang bermain
Memanggil-manggil namaku

Resah yang tiada henti
Bila kau melangkah pergi
Apakah yang harus ku lakukan
Untuk merubah hatimu

*

Pintaku cuma jangan pergi
Ku tak bisa berasingan jauh oh darimu

Bilakah onak ini akan pergi
Berlari biarkan pergi
Buat selamanya biar kita berdua disinari
Oh mentari oh mentari

sweets as a means of greeting!

for the followers of
tauhhidblog.blogspot.com,
and especially
for every Chinese
around the world

have a sweet...very sweet;
Chinese New Year

新年快樂 = /Xīnnián kuàilè/ a.k.a. Happy New Year!

Chinese New Year
The first day of the Chinese lunar year begins with the family gathering to pay ritual homage to their ancestors, and to heaven and earth. The gathering serves to acknowledge that life is centered around one’s parents, heaven and earth; and that gratitude, respect and love are vital in the continuity of life and traditions. Elders and married couples give children and unmarried adults ang pow (red packets containing ‘lucky money’), an act that is supposed to bestow good luck on both the giver and the recipient.

團圓飯 a.k.a. Reunion dinner

Chinese New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Eve (Chu Xi or the last day of the lunar calendar) is a time for all members of the family to come together to share a meal, and to usher in the new year. The reunion dinner is usually a veritable feast of foods bearing names that have auspicious significance. For instance, yu (fish) means abundance and fatt choy (seaweed) is a call for prosperity. The reunion dinner and the wait for the new year are intended to strengthen family ties. Bad words are prohibited at the family gathering to ensure positive and respectful interaction. At night, the family burns incense and candles, and makes offerings of meat and fruit to deities at home or in temples to invoke their blessings for the year ahead.
