Beauty Pageantry....during Kaamatan and Gawai.

so, it is the season to be jolly again.

two of the main harvesting festivals 

are celebrated at this time of the year....

and the harvesting festivals are both exclusive 

in eastern Malaysia.

namely, Sabah and Sarawak.

There's the Kaamatan Festival, 

which is celebrated in Sabah 

during the final week of May; 

and reaching it's peak on the 30th and 31st of May. 

Kaamatan Festival  is celebrated by 

the Kadazan and the Dusun people in Sabah.   

And then there's the Hari Gawai. 

Gawai Dayak is a festival celebrated in Sarawak 

on 31 May and 1 June every year. 

Gawai Dayak is celebrated by 

the Iban, the Bidayuh, and the Orang Ulu. 

but, there's one special attraction during these festival;

beauties of the Ibans, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu

compete for the coveted title of Kumang Gawai in the 

Kumang Gawai Beauty Pageant.
