alhamdulillah
dengan sinarMu
terhampar jutaan rahmat
dan celik mata menyaksikan
limpahan warna
tersusun dan teradun
memuji kekuasaanMu

a story on the Storyteller
Yasmin Ahmad had long been known for her ground-breaking TV commercials for national oil and gas company Petronas with their themes of racial harmony and familial ties.
In 2003, she broke into movies with her first feature film, Rabun, a TV movie produced for TV3.
But it was 2004’s Sepet, her first cinematic release, that won her international accolades and awards such as the Grand Prix at the Creteil International Women’s Film Festival in France. Later that year, the film also picked up the Best Asian Film award at the Tokyo International Film festival.
Since then, she has made four other feature films, all of which had been screened at international festivals.
Her biggest moment came in 2007 when Mukhsin (2006), her ode to childhood love, garnered two awards – the Grand Prix from the Kinderfilmfest International Jury and a Generation K-Plus Crystal Bear Special Mention at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival, one of the top three film festivals in the world.
Her latest film, Talentime, has been selected for this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival, which will be held from Oct 17 to 25.
Yasmin had just embarked on two international projects, a Japanese film called Wasurenagusa (Forget Me Not) which will feature a Malaysian-Japanese cast, and Go Thaddeus!, a Singaporean production about the short but inspiring life of the late Singaporean triathlete Thaddeus Cheong.
Last November, she was inducted into the inaugural Malaysian Advertising Hall of Fame by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia.

bismilllah di akhir
alhamdulillah
petang ini hujan
inilah kasihNya yang datang dibawa angin
setelah sekian lama kehangatan
hujan petang kuharap sampai ke malam
memberi ruang untuk ku bermimpi
dalam lena yang kudahulukan dengan
bismilllah

a poem for my three princes
berlari-larilah
di taman bunga
hadapan rumah
kalau jatuh, bangun semula
bermain-mainlah
tangkap belalang
korek-korek pasir
kalau kotor, boleh dibasuh
ketawalah dengan riang
jangan diingat sangat ayah kalian
dia pun ketawa, melupakan

yasmin ahmad, get well soon.
i kept telling myself "insyallah, she'll get better."
here's a snippet from New Straits Times:
Yasmin Ahmad in ICU (update2)
2009/07/23
Dennis Chua & Faridul Anwar, NST Entertainment Desk
PETALING JAYA: Multi award-winning director Yasmin Ahmad’s Facebook wall is pouring with well wishes from fans and friends from different ethnic backgrounds since news about her hospitalisation broke out at 3.30pm today.
“Get well soon, because there are not enough people who see life the way you do,” writes Marcus, while another post by Ken says: “Dear Lord, watch over this beautiful soul and bring her back to us in full health... she has helped so many.”
At 5pm today, Yasmin underwent a neurosurgical procedure at Damansara Specialist Hospital after suffering a stroke at Sri Pentas TV3 here. The operation was completed at 7.30pm and she was reported to be in a stable but critical condition.
The 51-year old film and TV commercial director, who is Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur’s executive creative director, is currently recuperating at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
“According to the surgeon, she’s still unconscious. So let her rest,” Leo Burnett’s managing director Tan Tien Eng told the media at the hospital, adding that Yasmin, to his knowledge, had no prior history of heart problems.
Also at the hospital were Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba, Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and husband Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, Jaclyn Victor, Fatimah Abu Bakar, Adibah Noor, film-makers James Lee, Pete Teo, Liew Seng Tat and Leo Burnett’s creative director Tan Yew Leong.
Yasmin, whose recent film Talentime met audiences earlier this year, was attending a meeting at 3pm with representatives from Media Prima as well as Siti and Khalid for an undisclosed project.
She suddenly complained of feeling unwell and collapsed during the meeting. Efforts were made by those at the meeting to resuscitate her but she did not gain consciousness. She was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
Siti, a former ambassador for Malaysian Red Crescent Society, also lent a hand when it happened together with a panel doctor for TV3.
“Yasmin didn’t show signs of being unwell. Only when she put her hands on her face and slumped on the meeting table that we knew something was wrong,” she later told the media at the waiting room.
According to Fatimah, Yasmin’s parents Inom Yon (better known as Mak Inom), 74; and Ahmad Hashim, 75, (Pak Atan). are scheduled to fly from Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur tonight. Yasmin’s maiden effort Rabun was inspired by the lives and love of Mak Inom and Pak Atan.
Yasmin, who is known for her 1Malaysia theme in her TV commercials, made her big screen debut with Sepet in 2004 after the critically-acclaimed TV movie Rabun. Sepet introduced viewers to a genre that combines humour, heart and love that transcends cultural barriers.
Her follow-up films put Malaysian film industry in the global arena when she was bagged awards at many renowned international film festivals from Hong Kong and Hawaii to Cannes and San Francisco. Among her works include Gubra (2006), Mukhsin (2007), Muallaf (2008) and Talentime (2009).

Yuna - Dan Sebenarnya
Oh Bulan.. Enggan melayan diriku lagi Pabila airmata membasahi pipi Dan lagu lagu di radio seolah olah memerli aku Pabila kau bersama yang lain Adakah perasaan benci ini sebenarnya cinta Yang masih bersemadi untukmu Dan sebenarnya ku mengharapkan di sebalik senyumanmu itu Kau juga menyintai aku Ku enggan berpura pura ku bahagia Ku enggan melihat kau bersama si dia Oh ku akui cemburu Mula menular dalam diri Pabila kau bersama yang lain Adakah perasaaan benci ini sebenarnya cinta Yang masih bersemadi untukmu Dan sebenarya ku mengharapkan Di sebalik senyuman mu itu Kau juga merindui aku Pabila kau merenung matanya Ku rebah jatuh ke bumi Di saat kau benar-benar mahu pergi Seperti ku bernafas dalam airAdakah perasaaan benci ini sebenarnya cinta Yang masih.. bersemadi untukmu Dan sebenarya ku mengharapkan Di sebalik senyuman mu itu Kau juga merindui aku

another video by me
just listen to the lyrics and the music, especially the haunting (and somewhat heart-breaking) tune of the cello.
i'm not going to post anything for a few week; or maybe months. so, here's my bow. i'll return, someday. HERSHEY KISSES FOR ALL.
Bersandar menusuk jiwa, menusuk jiwa ini
Bersandar menusuk jiwa, menusuk jiwa ini
Berharap seribu kasih namun kini punahlah sudah
Bersandar menusuk jiwa, menusuk jiwa, menusuk jiwa
Berharap seribu kasih namun kini punahlah sudah
Bersandar menusuk jiwa, menusuk jiwa, menusuk jiwa

I made this video while i'm still sane...
Berat terasa!
Senja semakin gila
Setiap orang
Ingin tinggal di kota
haaaa...
Cari-mencari
Mengumpulkan rejeki
Sedikit banyak
Untuk sesuap nasi
haaaaa...
Menyambut sinar mentari kota
Membasuh peluh menderai jiwa
Berpadu satu menuju cita
Bersama makmur sejahtera
